JFF boss to announce confirmation soon
DURHAM, North Carolina - President of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Crenston Boxhill says he should be able to announce confirmation of the proposed friendly international against Ghana in England in a few days' time.

Boxhill, who was here for the Reggae Boyz' friendly match against the USA, said while both parties have agreed on the match for May 29 there are "details still to be ironed out", chief of which is to identify a venue for the match. However, he said the promoters are working around the clock to resolve the issue.

"I have been in touch with the promoters up to a few minutes ago (last Tuesday)) and they have told me that they are looking at a venue about an hour outside of London," Boxhill said. He could not say, however, which ground was being considered.

Originally, the game was scheduled for London, but the promoters have been having difficulties securing a venue in the capital city.

"The game is on but we just need to work out these details," Boxhill said.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) would be using this game against the Boyz to prepare for the 2006 World Cup in Germany in June.

Ghana, ranked 50 by FIFA, who are playing their maiden World Cup, have been desperate to put the team into shape after a disastrous performance in the African Cup of Nations competition in Egypt during which they could not go past the group stage.
