Accra, Oct. 10, GNA – The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has formed four sub-committees to facilitate its Congress fixed for Saturday, October 29 in Kumasi.
The sub-committee for the terminal Congress is expected to elect members for the positions of President, three Vice Presidents, Secretary-General, Assistant Secretary-General, Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer.
It will be the second for Ghana in two years following an abortive one held in June 2009 that plunged the organization into a protracted turmoil.
According to information pieced together by GNA Sports, three officers from the Electoral Commission will form the Elections sub-committee.
The Arbitration sub-committee, according to the information has Dr. J. A. Baba, a Senior lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba and a former Director of the Sports College.
The other members includes legal practitioners Thaddeus Sori and Moses Foh Amoaning.
The Guidelines sub-committee, which has former Chairman on the Ghana Armature Boxing Association, Mr Ofei Darko as the Chairperson also has Mohammed Sahnnon, Chairman of the Ghana Cycling Committee (Member) and Ms. Elizabeth King, Director of Prisons and Treasurer of the Ghana Hockey Association as the Secretary.
The Organizing sub-committee is headed by Mr Frank Appiah, First Vice President of the GOC, Mr Ali Ibrahim, (Secretary), Mr Johnson Cliff Aboagye, Member, Rev. Emmanuel Niikoi, Member and Ms Angelina Ocran, Member.
According to the information, the Vetting committee has Dr. Henry A.K.A Pufa, former Director of the National Sports Council as the Chairperson.
The rest includes Dr Emmanuel Owusu Ansah, Director of Sports, University of Ghana (Member), Mr Ebo Quansah, former President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Member, Ms Rosemary Gaisey, SWAG representative, Member and Mr Ibrahim Issah, Secretary.
