Honeymoon Stars FC wins Kumasi Wood Village competition

President John Dramani Mahama, former presidents John Agyakum Kufour and Jerry John Rawlings as well as the Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II were some of the high profile dignitaries who graced the 5th Anniversary soccer feaster of the Kumasi Wood Village.

The games which commemorated the establishment of the Kumasi Wooden Village attracted 14 football teams around the Sokoban area where the village is located.

Kyirepatre-based second division side, Honeymoon Stars FC emerged winners of the prestigious trophy when the edged Gold Street football club in the finals by 2-1.

Team Manager of the club, who doubles as the Deputy Chief Accountant at Latex Foam Rubber Products Limited, Mr. Vincent Akutsah, express delight in what he called, “another feat to justify the huge investments made by management of the club”

He reintegrated that, Honeymoon stars FC, though a young football team, is bent on achieving more silverware, not just in the division two league, but to compliment the national teams with talented players.

“We have done a number of good friendly games involving clubs like Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC, New Edubiase, Ashantigold FC, Deportive FC and many more and these games have given the boys a lot of confidence and hope for the future”. He assured.

He added that, “even though the club has won many cups, this cup is as revered as the previous ones”.

He said it’s the vision of the Founder and President of the club, Mr. Chadrawy Walid to see the club in the elite division in the next three years”.

He was full of praise to the other participating clubs for the requisite competition during the games.

Honeymoon Stars FC is sponsored by Latex Foam rubber Products limited who are also sponsors of Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC, Asokwa Deportivo and the senior National team, the Black Stars.
