Ashie’s opponent to arrive on Friday

Alan Kamote, the Tanzanian boxer scheduled to fight Ghana’s George Ashie is expected in the country on Friday, November 28.

Kamote and Ashie will vie for the Interim World Boxing Organisation (WBO), Africa Lightweight title at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, December 5, under the auspices of McDon Boxing Promotion on a bill “Fist of Fury”.

Kamote 32, who has 36 fights to his credit, with 24 wins, 14 through knockout, seven loses and four draws is expected to undergo weigh-in early next week before the fight.

According to the organisers, he is also expected to address the press ahead of the crucial fight after the weigh-in alongside his Ghanaian opponent.

Kamote, is expected to give Ashie a tough contest, in a fight that, will see the winner having the opportunity to vie for WBO titles.

The fight will be the second for Ashie since losing to Emmanuel Tagoe in one of the biggest boxing events in the country last year.

Ashie known as the “Red Tiger”, who boasts of 29 fights, 24 victories with 17 knockouts, four loses and a draw is seeking to revive his career after the famous defeat to Tagoe.

Other bouts on the bill includes a 12-round World Boxing Federation (WBF) Africa Light-Heavyweight Championship fight between Maxwell "Black Wolf" Amponsah and Ebenezer "Upper Cut" Tetteh, with Pride "Octopus" Dzanie taking on Michael Barnor in another 12 round bout for the National and West Africa Boxing Union (WABU) Bantamweight title.

Former national champion, Patrick Allotey, will face off with Isaac Aryee in a 10-round Welterweight contest.
