Accra, May 6, GNA - Ghana and Nigeria split honours at an International Chess tournament, which ended at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra on Thursday, May 5.
Ghana emerged winners in the Senior event with Nigeria grabbing the Junior's event at the La-Casera second African Chess Schools' tournament, which commenced on May 2.
A statement signed by Christine Ashley, Secretary General of the Ghana Chess Association copied to GNA Sports said a total of five games were played in both categories.
For the Senior event, a team made up of Philip Ameku, Isaac Nortey and Richard Gabah came tops, whilst Nigerian Ifeoluwa Teriba finished first in the Individual Junior's event.
The winners each received a Gold Medal, a Certificates and a Chess Board for their efforts.
The three-day competition was meant to identify and scout for talents for the national teams of the two countries for the upcoming Umbro Games in Manchester, England later this year.
