Veteran sports broadcaster, Kwabena Yeboah, has labelled Ghana as underdogs ahead of the Black Stars match against Mali in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
While discussing Ghana's chances, Kwabena Yeboah admitted that Mali is in a better situation than the Black Stars, who are in a transition.
The seasoned journalist urged the team to embrace the underdog status and secure the much-needed win against a talented Malian side.
"Everybody knows the pedigree of Mali; they are a talented team. Unfortunately, this is the first time Ghana is playing Mali that we enter as underdogs. But the team is in transition, with a number of young players coming in. So, if you want to play with your heart and speak from a chauvinistic perspective as a Ghanaian, then you will say Ghana will definitely win.
"But if you want to be professional, then you know this is going to be a very tough game. However, I do hope that they can play with the spirit of underdogs and win this game," he told 3Sports.
The Black Stars face Mali at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako, with the game set for a 19:00 GMT kickoff.
A win for Ghana would send them to second place on the table, as they currently sit fifth with one win and one defeat from two games.
Conversely, a defeat would put a significant dent in the country's chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Meanwhile, Mali is second in the group with four points from two games. Therefore, a win would keep their World Cup campaign on course.
