Ghana beat Nigeria in Polo match

Accra, April 18, GNA - Accra Polo Club of Ghana defeated Katsina Polo Club of Nigeria by five and-a-half goals to four in an international polo match played at the Accra Polo Grounds on Saturday. Ghana, who were given a half goal due to their weak Handicap, opened the scoring through Rashid Ibrahim two minutes inside the First Chukka when he scored from an acute angle.

Harold Awuah Darko (two goals), Jamal Ibrahim and Ziad Yamak were the other scorers for Ghana while Ibrahim Zakary, Haruna Mohammed, Khalid Dasula and Mustapha Junaid also scored for the visitors. The Coca Cola Bottling Company of Ghana Limited sponsored the competition.

Mr Sulemana Iddrisu, Captain of the Accra Polo Club thanked the company for sponsoring the competition and appealed to other corporate bodies to help develop the sport.

Nii Okai Nunoo, Public Affairs Manager of Coca Cola Bottling Company Limited presented the trophy to the Ghanaians. 18 April 04
