President John Dramani Mahama has revealed plans for a nationwide stadium building
President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to expanding Ghana’s sporting infrastructure, revealing that concrete steps are already being taken to ensure every region has a stadium.
Speaking to Citi Sports on the vision outlined in his manifesto, Mahama disclosed that regions currently without stadium facilities will be prioritized under a long-term construction plan.
According to him, the initiative has already been captured in the national budget, with three stadiums scheduled to be built in 2026.
“When you look at our manifesto, we stated that all regions that do not have stadiums will be provided with one. In this year’s budget, we have factored in the construction of three stadiums this year and we will do it every year so that every region will have its stadium,” he said.

He emphasized that the projects are on course and that the facilities are being designed with a broader purpose in mind.
He noted that the stadiums will serve as economic hubs, contributing to local development through business activities, job creation, and community engagement.
“As I speak, the stadium design is being put together. We want to make these structures more than just stadiums but also economic centres,” he added.
