A coach of the national athletics team, Leo Myles-Mills has expressed his satisfaction with the training facilities at the University College of Marjon, Plymouth ahead of the London Olympic Games.
Leo, who is still the national 100m record holder, said this when Team Ghana went on a tour of the state of the art sport facility at the University, that includes a sports science laboratory, sports therapy, a gymnasium, swimming pool, on Wednesday, 11th June, 2012.
Ghana’s Olympic team is undertaking a two week intensive training regime in the south-western part of the U.K ahead of the start of the 2012 Olympic Games on the 27th July.
Speaking to www.liquidsportsghana.com, Leo Myles-Mills said he was pleased with the facilities available for his team during their camp.
“It’s an exciting place to be,” he said adding that, and “the facilities are great. “
“It totally took me out of my wits. I wasn’t expecting anything like that. I thought it was going to be a low key place to hide and do last minute training towards London 2012.”
“We toured the facility this morning and it was an eye opener. We are definitely going to make use of it and hopefully we can brush up and strengthen our self in these last few minutes
The Ghana team that toured the facility included the 2006 world indoor long jumper champion Ignisious Gaisah, sprinter Vida Anim and Africa’s heptathlon queen Margaret Simpson.
Weightlifter Alberta Ampomah and head Coach Majeti Fetrie, masseur Fulera Abdul-Rahman Abu, physiotherapist Raphael Yaadar, athletics coach Leo Myles- Mills and Press Attaché Erasmus Kwaw.
Meanwhile, the athletes and officials were accorded a good reception by officials from the Ghana High Commissioner led by Andrews Owusu, who met the team on arrival in London on Tuesday, 10th July before the team departed to their new base in Plymouth.
