Afcon 2017 title aspirants Ghana could face world champions Germany next year following draw for the upcoming Fifa Confederations Cup held during the weekend in Russia.

Germany have been pitted against 2015 Copa America winners Chile in Group B alongside Asian champions Australia and eventual winners of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Hosts Russia, European champions Portugal, 2015 Concacaf Cup winners Mexico and 2016 OFC Nations Cup winners New Zealand make up Group A.

The African representatives will open their campaign against Chile in Moscow on June 18, 2017 before facing Australia four days later and rounding off against Germany on June 25.

Ghana are among 16 teams set to compete at next year's Afcon which is scheduled to run between January 14 and February 5 in Gabon.

To be based in Port-Gentil, the Black Stars will open their campaign against Uganda on January 17 before taking on Mali four days later.

Avram Grant’s side will then wrap up their group activities against Egypt, whom they lost 2-0 against in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers earlier this month.

Ghana are seeking to win the continental title for the first time in 34 years, having lifted the title in 1963, 1965, 1978 and 1982.

The Fifa Confederations Cup, which is to serve as a dress reversal for the 2018 World Cup, will run between June 17 and July 2 next year.

Ghana drew 2-2 with Germany at the group stage of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
