Accra, April 22, GNA - The superiority of Egypt in Polo over Ghana was manifested when they defeated Ghana for the second time 5-4 in the final match of their International Polo Championship, which ended at the Accra Polo Grounds on Tuesday.

Ghana who lost the opening match by three and-a-half goals to nine, however made some amends as they were a delight to watch in the First Chukka when they took a commanding 2-0 lead with goals from Kenneth Quartey and Eric Gene.

Relying on their rich experience, the Egyptians accepted the challenge and leveled up the scores with goals through Mohammed Mahamy and Ali Kashef in the Second chukka.

The Ghana team once again came into the picture and scored two quick goals in the Third Chukka by Quartey and Rashid Ibrahim but that was not enough to earn them the trophy as the Egyptians scored three goals in the Fourth Chukka through Marawani Mustapha who converted two with Sherif Amin adding one.

Mr Kwakye Dopua-Dei, Captain of the Accra Polo Club presented the magnificent trophy to skipper of the Egyptian side Ali Kashef. He appealed to corporate bodies and other institutions to support the Club in its effort at developing the sport in the country. Mr Depua-Dei gave the assurance that they train hard and ensure that they seek revenge in the return encounter which would be played at a later date.

Mr Sivnesh Kumar Re, General Manager of the Pipe-Line Division of Interplast Ghana, one of the sponsors of the competition, pledged his company's commitment of supporting the Club in its developmental efforts.
