Ghana makes progress at 2019 Africa Beach Games

Ghana’s Beach Volleyball team exhibited a spirited performance to beat archrivals Nigeria at the first African Beach Games in Sal, Cape Verde.

Ghana’s pair of Kelvin Carboo and Sammy Essilfie won the first set by 22-20 and won the second set by 21-17, to brush aside their opponents by two straight sets.

Ghana would next game against Central Africa.

Moro Mumuni coach of the team, was very happy with the performance and was hopeful the players would improve in their next game.

Mr. Paul Atchoe President of the Ghana Volleyball Association (GVA), described the victory over Nigeria, as a befitting birthday gift for him, which falls on Thursday, June 20.

Mr. Atchoe who doubles as the Vice President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and Chef du Mission for the next Olympic Games in Japan, said the team was capable of winning a medal if they were motivated.

He called on corporate Ghana to support sports as there were many talents, who must not be left untapped.
