Ghana failed to reach the 2017 African Youth Championship finals despite beating Senegal 1-0 at home on Friday in the final qualifying round return leg clash.

The Black Satellites were eliminated 3-2 on aggregate in a match which was dogged by some questionable officiating.

Charles Boateng scored the only goal on the match on 33 minutes and should have had a brace when he hit the woodwork in the second half.

Les Lionceaux came in strong and their game plan also worked to perfection.

Jospeh Koto's boys were unlucky not to have scored after striking the goal post in the second half.

This will be the first time the Black Satellites have missed out on qualification to the tournament since winning the 2009 edition in Rwanda.

The 2017 African Youth Championship finals will be played in Zambia from 26 February to 12 March.
