The Ghana FA will not go through with its threat to report Zambia to Fifa following post-match scuffles in their World Cup qualifier. Zambia beat Ghana 1-0 in a highly charged game in which there were accusations of maltreatment.
The Ghana team had hinted at filing charges against their Zambian counterparts for alleged assault by Zambian policemen. The Ghana team also complained of a poor reception at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium from the Zambian football authorities.
After the game, the Communications Director for Ghana had, together with two of his team's players, been furious at alleged bias from Tunisian referee Med Kordi especially in the last quarter hour of the match.
But in a u-turn, Ibrahim Saanie Daara told Fox FM that due to pressing issues, the complaints will not be lodged. "No decision has yet been made but we are leaning towards dropping the complaint," said the communications man.
"The FA has not met due to the death of Jordan Anagblah but we are looking to come out with a final decision of our next move very soon."
Although the 2014 World Cup qualifiers resume next year, the Ghana FA say their attention on those games also contribute to their decision not to do anything on the matter. "We are looking to rather focus on the matches left and we believe lodging a complaint could shift our focus on the core business so yes we are leaning towards dropping our protest," Saanie Daara said.
The Black Stars will resume the qualifiers in March 2013 in second position in Grouo D. Zambia are las-but-one, with Sudan leading the pack.
