Ghana's men's 4x100m relay team reportedly self-funded their trip to the Bahamas for the World Relays in their quest for an Olympic Games ticket.

A report by Sports journalist, Gary Al-Smith revealed that the athletes covered the cost of their trip from the USA to the Bahamas to represent Ghana.

Gary indicated that the Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif has promised the quartet a refund of the expenses made.

The quartet comprising Ibrahim Fuseini, Isaac Botsio, Benjamin Azamati, and Joseph Paul Amoah landed in Bahamas two days before their first heat on May 5, 2024, in which they dropped the baton.

However, they made a brilliant comeback in the second heat on May 6, where they won the heat with a time of 38.29 seconds to seal their qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games.

Speaking after the win, Benjamin Azamati pleaded for funding for their preparations for the Olympics in Paris, France.

"We want ample time to prepare and face these guys but of course, it comes with money," he said.
