Ghana's Spikers fail to qualify

Accra, Feb 18, GNA - The Black Spikers, the national volleyball team has failed to qualify for the next stage of the World Cup qualifying series scheduled for Egypt.

Their failure was after the Spikers had participated in a four-nation qualifier with Uganda, Eritrea and the host nation, Sudan to vie for the single slot ticket from the group to participate in another mini league competition to be held in Egypt.

The team, after winning the first two matches against Uganda and Eritrea 3-1, 3-0 respectively lost the final match to the host nation, Sudan 3-2.

The Sudanese, according to reports gathered by the GNA Sports also reached the final stage by beating Uganda 2-1 and Eritrea 3-0 before defeating Ghana.

Sudan will now join three other countries in Egypt for the next mini league competition from which the first three teams will be selected to participate in the World Cup in Japan later in the year. However, Mr Iddrisu Bawa, the team manager of the Spikers told the
