Ex-France captain Marcel Desailly has emerged as frontrunner for the newly created technical advisor job for the Black Stars after Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga met him on Tuesday, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The meeting took place at the premises of the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra, a facility owned by the former Chelsea defender.

Ayariga is said to have held discussions on the development of sports in Ghana but analysts suspect there could be more to it with the position for the technical adviser of the Black Stars now available.

The Ghana Football Association announced on Tuesday that a three-man committee has been set-up to find a technical advisor to assist Kwesi Appiah in his duties.

Desailly has previously been linked with the Black Stars coaching job but it looks he is very close this time.

But that has been played down after it was communicated that Ayariga paid a working visit to the Lizzy Sports Complex at East Legon as part of the celebration of the International Youth Day.

Desailly called for the need for the government to partner the private sector to build such facilities around the country so that communities can have access to good sporting facilities.

He said the Lizzy Sports Complex facility has given him the conviction that, Ghanaians in every community are yearning for very good sports recreational venues.

Desailly said the Complex receives over three thousand people from schools, corporate organisations and churches who come to use the facility each week.

The Minister assured Desailly that his visit is an indication that government is thinking and is going to pursue the ideas he has been espousing and he will act quickly to bring these ideas into fruition.
