Ghana's athletics team
Ghana has won the bid to host the 2026 Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Seniors Championships.
The West African country beat Botswana in a competitive bid to get the chance to host the 2026 Confederation of African Athletics.
Ghana received 12 votes while Botswana managed only three out of the 15 countries that voted.
The successful bid was spearheaded by a delegation that included Deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Bawa Majeed, President of Ghana Athletics Bawah Fuseini, and Vice President Charles Osei Assibey, responsible for administration.
Ghana capitalized on its state-of-the-art facilities, showcasing its capabilities after successfully hosting the 2023 African Games and the CAA Region II Seniors Championships.
With this achievement, Ghana is poised to deliver another exemplary event in 2026, reinforcing its status as a leading host of major athletic competitions in Africa.
