Accra, June 29 GNA - Veteran handball players in the West African sub-region will converge in Accra from Friday June 30 for the fourth edition of a one-day veteran competition.
According to a statement signed by Mr Saka Acquaye, Secretary General of the Handball Association of Ghana, under whose auspices the event will be held, participating teams will come from Togo, Benin and Nigeria, who are the new entrants in the competition. Ghana won both the men and the ladies events of the third edition in Togo in last December.
The statement asked all participating teams to arrive in Accra on Friday to go through the needed registration formalities before actual competition starts on Saturday.
The Association thanked Bahmed Travel and Tour for facilitating their travel to last year's event with a donation of 30 million cedis. Some dignitaries invited to witness the event are Mr Charles Ayeh, Deputy Executive National Sports Council, Mr B. T. Baba, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Members of the Ghana Handball Association, Ambassadors of participating countries, Mr and Mrs Deyoungsters and representative of the sponsors latex foam.
