Henry Asante Twum is the Communications Director of the GFA
Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum has revealed that the Black Stars' provisional squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be announced in May but the final squad will be confirmed in June.
Speaking in an interview with 3Sports, Asante Twum emphasized that selection decisions are still open, including the future of veteran forward André Ayew.
“We will name our provisional 2026 World Cup squad in May and settle on the final squad in June. Nobody knows if Andre Ayew will go to the World Cup,” he stated.
The comments come amid ongoing debate over Ayew’s role in the national team, with the experienced captain continuing to divide opinion among fans and pundits.
While his leadership and experience remain valuable, questions persist about whether he fits into the long-term plans of the Black Stars heading into the global tournament.
Meanwhile, Black Stars coach Otto Addo has announced his squad for the upcoming international friendly games against Austria and Germany.
