Ghana will hinge her hopes on Olympics glory on nine athletes who will represent the country at the summer Olympic Games scheduled to begin in London later in the month.
The nine, made up of three track and field athletes, four boxers, a judoka and one weightlifter, would be joined by six coaches for the quadrennial event slated for July 27 to August 12.
Sprint Queen Vida Anim will be making her fourth appearance at the global gathering where she dreams of a final berth after three failed attempts.
German-based Anim told GNA Sports that qualifying for the finals in the 200m event will be within her expectations at the Games which will have Margaret Simpson and Ignatius Gaisah as the other two qualified athletes.
Former Ghanaian athletes recently employed as track and field Coaches by the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), Andrew Owusu and Leonard Myles-Mills will serve as coaches for the trio for the three-week competition regarded as the biggest global sporting event.
The four boxers, Duke Micah, Isaac Dogboe, Sulemanu Tetteh and Maxwell Amponsah will enjoy the services of trainers- Ofori Asare and Vincent Nettey during the event.
Sole Judoka, Emmanuel Nartey will be trained by Hans Jurgen Klinger while former champion, Majeti Fetrie will aid Alberta Ampomah in her quest to claim Ghana’s first medal in weightlifting at the Games.
A contingent of 21 are expected to form part of the Team Ghana contingent which has Angela El-Adas as the team doctor, Raphael Yaadar –physiotherapist, Fulera Abdul-Rahman Abu- Masseur with Nii Adote Din Barima I, First Vice Chairman of the Ghana Olympic Committee as Chef de Mission.**
