Some supporters of Swiss club FC St. Gallen have shown up in Ghana to support their goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi as the Black Stars take on Sudan in the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The three fans, who are of Ghanaian descent, revealed that they came to Ghana to support the Black Stars in their crucial game against Sudan.
They hope that Ati-Zigi will be able to keep a clean sheet against Sudan to spearhead the team to victory despite the tension surrounding the game.
Speaking in an interview with GhOne TV, one of the fans, Daniel, said, “We are from Switzerland and supporters of FC St. Gallen. We are proud of his performance in the team. We will be giving the needed support to him to give off his best in the game, to make the St. Gallen fans in Switzerland happy.”
Afterwards, another supporter named Jimmy added, “He is a great goalkeeper, we hope that he will keep a clean sheet so that Sudan have nothing to work on the goal.”
Ghana will play Sudan on October 10, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Black Stars' doubleheader against Sudan will have a major impact on Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON after failing to win their first two games.
