Ghana will pursue MRI case to FIFA IF… Nyantakyi

The President of the Ghana Football Association has hinted that his outfit is ever ready to go to the Court of Arbitration for Sports at FIFA to seek redress in the ban that has been placed on the Ghana U-17 team for using an over aged player if CAF fails to lift the ban and declare Ghana legally qualified.

In an address, the president said, “Yes Cameroon had a case. They said we had used an over aged player and they based their decision on an MRI report that was sent to them in March. Rightly or wrongly, they have come to that conclusion and we don’t agree with them. Our radiologist has insisted that the player is not over aged. We have engaged an independent radiologist who has also confirmed that the player is not over aged.”

“So we are contesting this matter as far as possible, even to the Court of Arbitration for Sports at FIFA to make sure that justice is not only done, but seems to have been done,” Mr. Nyantakyi added.

Cameroon had reported that Black Starlets player, Isaac Twum was over aged during the time the two teams played in October and that Ghana must be penalized. CAF immediately banned Ghana’s U-17 but Ghana has since protested and appealed for the ban to be lifted.
