The status was made known by the World Fifa Women's Ranking released on Friday.
Having moved one place up, the Black Queens currently sit between Serbia (43) and Cameroon (47).
On the continental level, Ghana are second on the log behind African champions Nigeria (35), while Cameroon (47) sit third.
Equatorial Guinea (50), South Africa (51), Cote d'Ivoire (60), Tunisia (68), Morocco (70), Algeria (76) and Egypt (83) complete the top 10.
The Black Queens' rise, which also includes a change in total accumulated points from 1487 to 1499, could be attributed to the team's performance in the recently-ended Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
