Ghanaian Walker Excels In Kenya

Two Ghanaian ladies in the persons of Jacqueline Bludo and Sarah Nyarkoh left the shores of Ghana to Kenya to participate in a10 day Race Walking Training Camp. The programme was organized by IAAF to promote women?s walking on the African Continent.

Miss Jacqueline Bludo took the 3rd position with a time of 1 hour 05.25, out of 16 competitors from eight countries in a distance of 10,000metres and an altitude of 1.610metres above sea level.The competition was organized as part of the programme.

All participants were given certificates at the end of the programme.Miss Bludo said in an interview that the programme was an eye opener, taking into consideration the fact that walking is a least developed sport in Ghana and various attempts are being made to develop it. She further stressed that she and her partner reached Kenya two days after the programme had started. And this was attributed to lack of communication.
