Ghanaian Walkers For U.K.

Members of the Visco Walking Club who are currently preparing for the forthcoming 22nd World Walking Cup slated for 13th and 14th May, in Lacorona Spain have received a message which happens to be a setback.

Information reaching the club indicates that the competition may after all not come off as scheduled due to heavy snowfall which has been experienced in various parts of Europe.

The authorities are currently looking forth for the situation to calm down before the programme can be undertaken. Ghana?s walking team has suffered a lot of technical set backs in time past and as a result of this the Ace walker in the person of Vincent Asumang has indicated that he has teamed up with Dave McGovern the foreign coach for the Ghanaian walkers as well as some officials from the Ghana Athletics Association, such as Albert Nukpezer.

Ghana is supposed to enter seven (7) walkers in the 20k men and women and 50k men respectively but due to financial constraint only five in each case for the 20k and 50k men would be entered whereas the women?s 20k would see only two competitors.

The technical men are working hard to make it possible for the nation to be ranked hence the five walkers in each race so that three of them who cross the finishing line can be ranked. This has been carefully thought of because of the fact that not all the walkers make it to the finishing line in each race due to a number of reasons.

Walkers who are expected to take part in the event include; Jacqueline Aku Bludo (Ghana Police Service), Godslove Andrews, Ahmed Tijani Sanni (Ghana Armed Forces, Navy), Stanley Brimah, Benjamin Kojo Annan, Francis Kwame Adarkwa, Atta Bright, Prince Frimpong Richard Arthur, The rest are John Kwadzo Senanu Segbe, Agyanim Boateng, Kofi Ali, Andrew Kodjo Tukpe, Michael Osei Boateng. Eric Kwabena Nuamah.

The officials are Mary De -Lovrdes Brew. Dave McGovern and Albert Nukpezer.
