As part of the preparations for next year’s busy international walking competitions notably the World Walking Cup and the Olympic Games, the UK Race walking Association has invited Ghanaian walkers to participate in a series of warm-up competitions to help fine-tune them in time for the competitions.

In an invitation signed by P. J. Cassidy the Honorary general secretary of the Association, the two-week training program will be geared towards sharpening the reflexes of the Ghanaian walkers.

Initially, the program was to have come on before the All-Africa Games but then a rush to get the contingent in Abuja Nigeria, stalled it. Among those expected to make the trip include Ahmed Tijani Sanni, Abraham Kumi, Jeremiah Damptey and Adjei Boateng all for the 20 kilometer race.

For the 50 kilometer race a line up of Stanley Briamah, Kofi Ali and Vincent Asumang of the Ghana National Fire Service, as well as team officials namely Messrs. Elorm Togo, Godson Kobla Akoto and coach Albert Nukpezah are expected to make the trip.
