Information reaching Media Houses indicates that Ghanaian athletes participating in the ongoing 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia are not happy and planning to stage a massive demonstration against the Sports Ministry over unpaid per-diem.
According to sources, the 72 athletes representing the West African country will be demonstrating if they don’t receive their per-diem.
The athletes are entitled to $2,300 (23 days x $100) as per-diem, but the athletes were given $1,700 which they rejected.
However, the Ghanaian athletes have issued a stern warning that if the Sports Ministry fails to pay the full amount they will take to the streets of Gold Coast to demonstrate.
They also added that if they don’t receive the full amount they will not travel back to Ghana.
Team Ghana has not won any medal at the time of filing this report, however, the Table Tennis set led by Derek Abrefa and Boxer Jesse Lartey are eagerly doing their best to land in the medal zone.
Jesse Lartey has been tipped for a gold medal if he improves upon his performance.
The 2018 Commonwealth Games closing ceremony will come off on April 15.
