Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu came on as a first-half substitute for Real Vallodolid as they suffered 5-1 defeat to Barcelona in La Liga on Tuesday evening.
Despite the heavy scoreline, the 20 year old held his own at the Camp Nou against a Messi-led Barca onslaught.
Salisu was introduced in the 32nd minute as a replacement for the injured Nacho and was arguably his side’s standout player throughout the remainder of the game.
Clement Lenglet opened the scoring early in the game before Kiko bundled in for White and Violets to restore parity.
It was the Messi show from then onwards, the Argentine maestro set up Arturo Vidal with a brilliant assist before curling in a superb free-kick to end the half 3-1.
Messi grabbed his second after the recess before turning provider for Suarez who completed the rout.
Salisu has made 13 appearances in all competitions for the Albivioletas as they sit comfortably in 9th position on the La Liga table.
