Ghanaian coach ‘thanks God’ for losing a game

His appointment as the head coach of one of Ghana’s most historic clubs was greeted with overwhelming disapproval by fans of the club.

His competence as a coach has been questioned on several occasions by football lovers following abysmal performance at Accra Hearts Oak and sub-standard performance with Ghana’s under-17 team.

Added to the doubts about his tactical prowess are allegations of bribery which have consistently been levelled against him by not only football fans but former players as well.

The latest of such allegations was from Kwadwo Opoku ‘Mahala’ a former player of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, the team he now coaches.

“What I know is human can change at a time because for what I know of Paa Kwesi is that, he's not a good coach but I don't know if he is a change person now. Paa Kwesi takes bribe a lot because I remember during our time with him at Kotoko and even at school (OKESS) that was what he was doing, always receiving bribes, that's the gospel truth of what I know about him, Mahala revealed.

Paa Kwesi Fabin’s start to life at Kotoko has not been smooth as expected and with just 11 games into the season, fans of the Kumasi-based club are already calling for the head of Paa Kwesi Fabin.

On Wednesday, 2nd May 2018, Kumasi Asante Kotoko took on newly promoted side Karela United at the Crosby Awuah Park at Anyinase in the Western Region.

The game ended with Kotoko losing 3-1 to the club that is tasting its first ever premier league season.

Paa Kwesi Fabin in a post-match chat with the press hailed his goalkeeper for his excellent display and expressed gratitude to God for ensuring that the scoreline remained 3-1.

“I must give credit to Karela United. They played very well and they are a very good side,’’Fabin said at the post-match. “They really dominated in the second half and they scored one goal in the process. They could have scored more but for the brilliance of our goalkeeper [Felix Annan]. We thank God we lost by three goals to one.”

Kotoko have had a poor start to the league campaign this year, after losing to Hearts of Oak in Kumasi last weekend, the expectation was that they will return to winning ways but that was not to be as they suffered another crushing defeat to Karela in midweek.

Kotoko now occupy the 10th position on the league log with only 14 points from 11 league games.
