Heart of Lions Head Coach, Bashir Hayford, has disclosed that coaches in Ghana are not celebrated enough for their achievements.

The experienced coach, who led Heart of Lions to escape relegation, stated that the country has failed to tap into the wealth of knowledge and experience of coaches.

According to him, the only time heroes like him are celebrated is after their demise.

"Other countries are making use of their experienced coaches, tapping into their knowledge and experience," Bashir told JoySports exclusively.

"What I see here [in Ghana] is they will allow you to struggle to get a job from somewhere and still watch whether you can do it or not. They don't recognize your achievements, performance, and experience."

"The only thing is to wait; the day you will die, they will write a very big and nice obituary."

Hayford took over a relegation-threatened Heart of Lions side and managed to help them overcome demotion from the Ghana Premier League.

The coach is famous for winning two Ghana Premier League titles, one with Asante Kotoko in 2007/08 and another with AshantiGold in 2014/15.

He has also managed Ghana's Women's U-17 and the Black Queens, as well as the Somalia national team.
