Ghanaian defender David Oduro is thrilled about his move to Barcelona after being unveiled by the club on Tuesday.
Oduro joins Barcelona as one of three new signings, alongside his compatriot Abdul Aziz Issah, who has joined from Dreams FC.
Oduro was signed from Accra Lions, where he impressed over the last two seasons.
He has signed a three-year contract, becoming the first player to be transferred directly from a Ghanaian club to Barcelona.
"First of all, I’m very, very happy because getting this opportunity is not very easy, especially from Ghana. So, for me, I’m very happy," he told Sporty TV.
"It’s historic for Ghana; being the first player to move directly from here to Barcelona is great news for Ghana," he added.
Oduro has previously been compared to Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies. However, he draws inspiration from Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde and looks forward to sharing the dressing room with him.
"It will be a great feeling because I have always watched him play and I admire him a lot, so it will be a great feeling for me," he said.
Oduro will start at Barcelona B. Given the club's current financial situation and their track record of trusting young players, he could make his first-team debut if he impresses this season.
