Ghanaian footballers decline to comment on Nyantakyi’s saga

Some current and ex-players of the Black Stars have declined to comment on the crisis that has hit Ghana football in the wake of the expose by Anas Aremeyaw Anas which has led to the resignation of Kwesi Nyantakyi as President of the Ghana Football Association.

Kwesi Nyantakyi resigned as President of Ghana Football Association last week after being implicated in an investigative documentary on corruption in football administration in an investigative piece titled #Number12.

FIFA’s Ethics Committee last Friday suspended Nyantakyi for 90 days during, and the suspension may be extended pending the outcome of investigations.

The former 1st vice President of CAF was seen taking an estimated $65,000 in cash from undercover reporters who posed as businessmen to secure favor from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and other government officials.

When Ghanaweb TV engaged some of the Black Stars players on their thoughts regarding the exposé and on Nyantakyi’s resignation, most of them declined to add their voices to the trending issue.

According to the Technical Director of the Black Stars, Stephen Appiah the team was unmoved by circumstances back home in Ghana as they engaged Iceland in a friendly game on the same the video was premiered.

Three other players, Kwadow Asamoah, Richmond Yiadom anf Agyemang Badu all declined to comment on the matter.
