Ghanaian striker Mohammed Anas, who went viral globally for thanking his wife and girlfriend in an interview, reclaimed his place in the news headlines - this time for good reasons - by scoring an outstanding free-kick in South Africa over the weekend.
Anas compounded the woes of South African giants Orlando Pirates as his blistering late free-kick helped Free State Stars to a 3-2 win at James Motlatsi Stadium in Orkney on Saturday.
Striker Moeketsi Sekola stunned the Buccaneers with an early strike in the fourth minute before captain Paulus Masehe doubled the lead in 13th to leave Pirates just six points away from bottom club and relegation-threatened Boroka FC.
Bucs pulled one back through Thela Ngobeni’s own goal in the 25th minute but Mohammed Anas’s stunning free-kick on the half-hour mark regained the lead for Stars.
Anas slipped an attempted finish past the upright. Then Anas curled one to skim the crossbar as the Buccaneers’ defence was at sea.
The beautiful goal put Anas back in the headlines after he last month thanked his wife and girlfriend after scoring two goals in a match.
