Ghana FA Normalisation Committee Chairman Dr Kofi Amoah has said Ghanaian football players as the main actors of the game and must get what they deserve.

The four-member FIFA team announced on Tuesday that it has secured an $800,000 sponsorship deal from government to restore organised football in the West African country.

Dr Amoah revealed as part of the modalities for the competition that the Normalisation Committee will directly pay remuneration packages of players who are going to take part in the competition.

Some clubs have openly opposed the idea of the Normalisation Committee directly paying the players and want to take charge of the payment process.

In an interview with Asempa FM’s Benedict Kwadwo Mensah popularly known as Moshosho Dr Amoah explained why the Normalisation has taken that step.

“We’ve listened to the players and all the concerns they raised about their salaries and issues relating to it. The players are the main actors of the game and we must do things to demonstrate that the players deserve what they must get. What is due to the clubs will go to them and what is due to the players will go to them. The game is for the players,” he said.

The Normalisation Committee met with most captains of clubs in the Ghana Premier League.

“The player is important and the clubs themselves even agree. Revelations from our meeting with the players was very revealing and we must focus on player-club relationship,” he added.

The Ghana Premier League has recorded seasons under Kwesi Nyantakyi’s old administration where the league ran without sponsorship and players complaining that publicly that they did not receive salaries and other enticement bonuses.
