On Friday, news broke that Ghana’s Raphael Dwamena’s move to English Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion has hit a snag.

All was set for Dwamena to complete his dream move to arguably the best league in the world for £10million from Swiss side FC Zurich, but Brighton have pulled out of the agreement after his medical tests on Friday.

Brighton agreed with FC Zurich for the permanent transfer of Dwamena, subject to work permit and international clearance.

The 21-year-old also agreed personal terms with the club and was given clearance to travel to the UK for his medical.

But following his medical Brighton released a statement confirming their withdrawal from the transfer.

Due to that Dwamena has returned to his club FC Zurich.

But Dwamena would not be the first Ghanaian to fail a medical ahead of a big move.

Aside Dwamena, Ghanacrusader.com gives you two other Ghanaian players that failed their medical.

Prince Tagoe

The Ghanaian forward in 2009 secured a dream move to Hoffenheim after passing the mandatory medical test, however, 51 days into his contract the club claimed Tagoe’s career has ended because of a heart problem.

His contract was cancelled, his signing on fee not paid and was asked to leave the country for Ghana but the agents fought the club and subsequent medicals proved the Ghanaian fit to play without any heart problems.

Kevin Prince Boateng

In 2015, reports emanated from Saudi Arabia that Kevin Prince Boateng move to Al Ittihad fell through after he failed his medical.

Before that Sporting Lisbon turned down Boateng after he failed a knee medical test.

Asamoah Gyan

In 2016, Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan failed his medical at English Championship side Reading FC.

A local website, Get Reading, reported that the 30-year old was set for a loan spell from Chinese side Shanghai SIPG, but due to the fact that he needed eight weeks to reach full fitness, Reading would not take the gamble on him.
