Bright Delali Senayi, the chief executive officer of Inter Allies, says Daniel Amartey’s imminent move to English Premier League side Leicester City should inspire the next generation of Ghanaian footballers.
Amartey played for Allies during his time in Ghana before joining Swedish side Djurgadens IF in 2013 and subsequently completing a switch to Danish outfit Copenhagen.
According to a statement from Amartey’s club FC Copenhagen, only “a few minor details” remain to finalise the defender’s move to England, while other reports say work permit may also be playing a part in the delay.
“It’s a good step for Daniel and it’s good for his career,” Senayi told Citi Sports.
“It sets a good example for young players in my team and in Ghana that with hard work the sky will be their limit.
“He showed a lot of quality and we knew he would go far despite the fact that he came from humble beginnings. We had a lot of confidence that he will eventually turn out right.”
With 44 league games to his name at Copenhagen, Amartey has won eight senior caps for Ghana, including three appearances at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and will become the third Ghanaian with the Foxes in addition to Jeffrey Schlupp and Joe Dodoo.
Leicester are currently tied on points with Arsenal at the top of the Premier League standings but separated by goals difference.
