Sports journalists in Ghana have eulogized the late ace Sports broadcaster Christopher Opoku, who passed away on May 10, 2017 in a London hospital after a long battle with cancer.

Ghana Television (GTV) Sports produced a special documentary titled 'In loving memory of Christopher Opoku A tribute from family and friends.'

In the documentary Chris as he is affectionately called was described as one who was humble, respected, God fearing and very disciplined. However when it came to his attitude towards what he loves to do most – Sports Journalism – he was defined as one who was dedicated, very constructive, in-depth, consummate professional, had great respect for details and constructive criticism.

The host of Citi FM’s Breakfast show, Bernard Avle described “Chris as a man who was a great team player and one who a number of young people look up to”.

As a father of three and the bread winner of the family, his wife labelled him as “the extraordinary, the best father, hard worker, good Christian and everything, nonetheless his eldest daughter recalled how their father “use to send them to school, help them with their homework and even sing” for them.

Scores of Ghanaians within the sports world on Saturday swamped the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to pay their last respect to their colleague, Christopher Opoku, who passed away some three months ago.
