On Wednesday night, Essien had another excellent performance when Bastia beat French champions and league leaders, Lyon, by 2–0 on Corsica. Essien also scored the first goal of the game – a shot after corner in the 65th minute. The game was watched by a number of leading European clubs, including Arsenal and Wolfsburg

PSG did get the three points against Le Havre, but as often didn't reassure the crowd in the Parc des Princes. The only goal was scored by returning Brazilian Jos? Aloisio. Alex NYARKO played 90 minutes
