Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko midfielder Michael Akuffo has called on Ghanaians particularly sports journalist to end tagging experienced footballers in the country as ‘lame duck’.

Some section of Ghanaian football advocates describes players who are in their late 20's as old and waste and that, cannot add value to the game anymore.

But Akuffo, who recently joined King Faisal has advised local fans to throw their support behind players who are approaching the twilight of their career to make the Ghana Premier League competitive and attractive.

“We should stop describing players who are heading towards the twilight of their career as old because you can’t make any case out of it. As for me, no one has tagged me as an old but I normally hear it”

“When you go to Europe, it is the experienced players that are playing better. They even sideline the young ones”

“As we speak there are a lot of players who will like to play in the Ghana league but because we describe them as old they retire abruptly. As for me my blood is very tick and until I retire naturally no man can do so” he told Angel FM in Kumasi.
