Ghatel Ladies decisions Koforidua Ghatel Ladies

Accra, Feb 7, GNA - Accra Ghatel Ladies football club on Tuesday decisioned their counterparts from Koforidua with a 2-0 victory to ensure they took home the glittering trophy in honour of the outgoing Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Telecom, Oystein Bjorge.

The game played at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra failed to produce the envisaged contest even though the Accra team dominated play by ensuring the scored the two vital goals from creative Adjoa Bayor and Anita Afi Ameneku to stay in contention to snatch the ultimate trophy and the 1.5 million cedis cash prize.

The Koforidua side that has always proved to be the bogey side to their Accra counterparts however lacked the antidote to the craftiness and pace of Bayor, flexibility of Florence Okoe and the aggression from Sheila Okine to create the desired stability in the midfield. It was however the goalkeeper of the Koforidua Ladies, Gladys Quansah who let the visitors down with her lousy approach that produced both goals.

Bayor capitalised on one of Quansah's inconsistency to pounce on a rebound from the former to send their scanty supporters incensed. The talented player's alertness proved decisive in the goal when she made the better of Quansah's inability to timely trap the ball for Bayor to send her side ahead ten minutes into the game.

The goal further stimulated the victors who coordinated their passes and built quick attacks to ensure they killed off the game on the 25th minute when Ameneku yet again exploited Quansah's discrepancy to wrap up victory.

The Koforidua Ladies launched a fight too late in the second half, but Aminatu Ibrahim, the Most Valuable Player, (MVP) fought relentlessly at the rear to ensure the scores stayed unchanged. In between play, Okoe missed from the spot after Bayor was fouled in 18 yard box. 07 Feb 05
