WAFA captain Gideon Waja says he is surprised with his Black Stars call-up ahead of Ghana’s World Cup double-header against Congo.
The enterprising midfielder was invited into the senior national football team due to his impregnable performance in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.
However, coach Kwesi Appiah saw the need to hand him his maiden Black Stars call-up, but Waja says he was surprised to hear that he has been included in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming games.
“When it came I was surprised but I'm very happy about it,” Waja told reporters.
Maintaining his position in the Black Stars team, Waja said, “It all depends on me, I have to work hard and learn from the seniors and that will make me a better player.”
