Girl-Child Promotion Golf at Sakumono

Tema, Dec. 5, GNA - The Second Annual Ghana Girl-Child Promotion Open Golf Championship tees off at the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono, near Tema on Saturday, December 10 to end on Sunday, December 11. Mrs Elizabeth Ezan, President of the Ghana Ladies Golf Union (GLGU) who announced this at Tema on Monday, said more than 50 girls aged between five to 25 years are expected to participate in the two-day competition.

She said the five to 10 year's group would play a six-hole, 11 to 17 year's would engage in a nine-Hole battle, while 18 years and above group would play an 18-Hole event.

Mrs Ezan said the aim of the competition is to promote the game of golf among the youth and also to unearth new talents.

It is also aimed at inculcating in the youth the spirit of the sport in order for them to take over from their senior golfers when the need arises. The professional golfers would engage in a 72-Hole competition to support the event.

The game, which shall be played under the local rules of the Celebrity Golf Club is being jointly sponsored by Somotex Ghana Limited, TV3 Network, Reality Vacation Institute, SG-SSB Bank, Air L'iquide, Labadi Beach Hotel and Prop House Limited.
