Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker George Abege has endured a torrid time in front of goal since joining the porcupine warriors on a three year contract from Kenyan side Kariobangi Sharks last month.

The lanky striker has featured in several friendly games and also started the first leg of Kotoko's preliminary round Champions league game against Nigerian side Kano pillars but also drew blank.

This has invitingly opened the door for some fans and naysayers to descend heavily on the striker questioning why Kotoko will ditch non performing strikers for an expensive import who cannot score even to save his life.

In a chat with the media after Kotoko's Champions league defeat, the Kenyan called for patience citing five time ballon dor winner Cristiano Ronaldo as taking 5 games before breaking his duck for the old ladies.

“Automatically when Ronaldo made the move from Real Madrid to Juventus, he played a number of games before scoring his first goal.

“Goals will also be difficult to score but we keep on working and the rest will follow, if you don’t concentrate on being discipline and working towards achieving your goals, it will always be difficult”

The Kenyan import concedes the team aspiration is more important to him than personal accolades and always try to help the team.

“I can’t go and start playing my own way just because I want to score for Asante Kotoko at the expense of what the coach has instructed.

“I always say that, the team will always come first and my personal ambition will follow” He stressed.
