Great Olympics skipper Gladson Awako has revealed that the Ghana Premier League lack quality players as compared to previous years.

Awako joined the Oly Dade lads at the start of the 2019/20 season after leaving United States club, Phoenix Rising where he played alongside compatriot Solomon Asante.

The 29-year-old has featured in all six games for Great Olympics as they lie 11th on the league table with seven points.

According to the experienced midfielder, the current Premier League clubs do not have many quality players as compared to a few years back.

"I can’t compare the league now and those because of the quality. Now we are lacking a lot although we have some good players, he told Ghanacrusader.com.

"I am talking in terms of general.

"We don’t have the same quality players in the system again though there are good player but we cannot compare to years back."

He was a member of the Ghana U-20 team that won the Africa Youth Championship in Rwanda and Africa’s first Youth World Cup in Egypt in 2009.
