Goalkeeper Daniel Agyei's father passes away on New Year's Day

Ghana goalkeeper Daniel Agyei has received bad news on New Year day as his father, Emmanuel Kofi Agyei, has passed away on New Year day, GHANAsoccernet.com has confirmed.

He was aged 85 and passed away after battling with a long illness, the former Free State Stars goalie has told Ghana Sports Online.

“He has been battling with some sickness for the past one week. Just this morning he was rushed to the hospital and unfortunately he passed on,” he said.

Agyei has joined his family back in Accra – Ghana, after signing a one-year contract with his former club Liberty Professionals.

The 24-year-old is noted for his exploits with Ghana’s U20 team when he helped Ghana to become the first African country to win the U20 FIFA World Cup.
