Ghana premiership side Medeama have dispensed with the services of two players.

Forwards Godbless Asamoah and Akwei Polo are no longer on the books of the Mauve and Yellows, the club’s director of communications tells supersport.com.

Until now, Asamoah had been one of the long-serving players at the club - playing for four seasons while the latter was in his third year.

“I can confirm Medeama has released the two players – Asamoah and Polo,” Tony Nkrumah Boateng said to supersport.com.

But the club will not give much details into what informed the decision. “A release is a release,” he stated.

Supersport.com has learnt that the decision to part ways with these players looks purely financial.

One of the affected players who pleaded anonymity reveals that he was told the club was facing financial challenges hence the decision to allow him leave in order to free up the books.

Supersport.com as well understands that five other players could be affected by the decision on the same grounds.
