The National Cycling Team, the “Golden Bikers” will pitch up their pedal
strength against 14 other African countries in this year’s edition of the Africa
Continental Cycling Championship slated for Rwanda, Kigali from 9th – 14th
November, 2010 under the able sponsorship of Promasidor Ghana Limited, producers
of Cowbell Milk.
The 4-man cycling team which is made up of power “pedalist” Samuel Amin, Nuru
Pardie, Henry Tetteh Djangmah and Tamale-based roller, Aminu Mohammed with
Technical Director Shaaban Mohammed as the sole official will be pitching their
strength against the likes of Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, Morocco, Egypt, and
host nation Rwanda who placed 4th in last year’s edition.
This year’s championship will include the men and women team Time Trial over
40Km, the individual time trial (men & women) 33 Km and 17.2Km respectively and
the Road Race-Men and Women Elite over 144km and 60 Km respectively.
Ghana’s 5-man contingent has become deficient of 4 more persons (2 cyclist and 2
officials) as a result of financial hiccups.
The Ghana Cycling Association is once again excessively grateful to Promasidor
Ghana Limited for their timely assistance in this regard. The association
believes this gesture has really cemented the re-branding exercise the
Association is going through and we hope the bond between the two parties will
yield enormous benefits.
Meanwhile, the Executive Committee of the Ghana Cycling Association, the
National Sports Council and the entire stakeholders of the sport added their
goodwill support to the team and hope they make Ghana proud in the country of
thousand hills.
The team has since left for Kigali.
