“Golden Bikers” Return Home From African Champs

The Ghana Cycling Association, National Sports Council and the entire

stakeholders of the sport wishes to congratulate the Ghana Cycling Team-the

‘Golden Bikers’ for their historic sterling performance in the just ended

African Continental Cycling Championship held in Kigali from 9th-14th November.

Meanwhile, the contingent was on Tuesday 16th November, met on arrival at the

Kotoka International Airport by the Association Executives, Management of

Promasidor GH Ltd, C.S.D.O of Sports Council Mr. Erasmus Adorkor and a section

of the media.

Ghana placed 13th out of 23 countries in the Team Time Trial behind countries

like Eritrea, South Africa, Algeria, Namibia, Kenya and Cote D’Ivoire. Samuel

Anim, Ghana’s hopeful inspired the team with a time of 1hr 04 seconds 55ms

seconds to give Ghana that position with Henry Tetteh Djangmah and Mohammed

Aminu.

Eritrea came first in 54mins, followed by South Africa in 56mins Ethiopia,

Algeria, Namibia Kenya, Libya and Egypt. Host nation Rwanda came 9th in 1hr

01sec followed by Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire and Zimbabwe.

In the Individual time trial, Anim Samuel & Henry Tetteh Djangmah placed 29th &

31st Positions respectively out of 52 cyclists.

As a result of this development, the team has already received yet another

invitation to take part in the 13th Tour Du Senegal on the 20th of this month

and the Senegalese Cycling Federation has given free air tickets for the 6-man

Team.

assistance in this regard, Ghana Cycling will be seen on a higher pedestal.
