Hundreds of fans troop to the Red Bull Academy Park at sogakope last Saturday to catch a glimpse of players of Golden Eyes FC a second Division outfit as they engage Red Bull Academy in a friendly match.
The match which was characterize by a lot of action packed exchanges saw Red Bull Academy defeating Golden Eyes by a lone goal. The match marks one of the preparatory matches ahead of the round of 64 matches against Great Olympics on Friday 20/01/ 2012 at the Ho Sports Stadium. Despite the defeat to Red Bull Academy, the technical handlers’ of the club remain unfazed as they vow to dismantle great Olympic out of the MTN FA cup. Golden eyes hold a 100 percent record this season at the Ho Sports Stadium and promise to hold on to that. Golden Eyes qualified to the round of 64 after defeating their city rivals Hot Steel FC a division one side by 2-0 at the same venue.
Tsomafo Christopher, the owner of Golden Eyes FC express his happiness about the level of soccer displayed by both teams and assured the people of the Volta region to expert good soccer from his club as they will raise high the flag of the region in the MTN FA cup. He also said the game will be use to select the players that will be featured against Great Olympics as they are a very strong side. He however alluded to the fact that they are the under dogs and will use that to their advantage and surprise Great Olympics. Mr Tsomafo praises the commitment of his players as they are well focus on the upcoming home match. He called on benevolent organizations and supporters to come on board to support the club in the MTN FA cup as the club is finance solely by him. The match kicks off at 3pm.
